FOLLOWING the successful installation of the retention basins earlier this year prior to COVID-19 lockdown, work is about to get underway in the Kawerau District for another flood protection project.

Another milestone towards the construction of the Kawerau Container Terminal was achieved recently with the completion of the ‘Heads of Agreement’ that relates to the land area where the terminal will be located.

The Kawerau Container Terminal will provide an efficient rail link to transport goods and connect heavy industry

Kawerau District Council welcomes the introduction of the new regulations for drinking water in New Zealand.

As part of the Government’s Three Waters review, the Mayor, Chief Executive and various elected members attended workshops and presentations from officials about the introduction of new regulations and a proposed approach to Three Waters investment and service delivery reform.

At the upcoming Council meeting on August 25, the Kawerau District Council will make decisions about whether to sign the initial Water Reform Memorandum of Understanding.
