The Porritt Glade Lifestyle Village is a partnership between Generation Homes and the Kawerau District Council. The two-bedroom units include an internal garage and are ideal for those in their golden years to enjoy with wide doorways, a spacious bathroom, additional power outlets in the garage, easy care sections and a village-like community which is fully fenced and gated for residents' additional security. Porritt Glade Lifestyle Village is a close distance to the Kawerau township and amenities.
Porritt Glade Lifestyle Village is situated on reserve land, therefore the units are available to purchase with an Occupation Right Agreement. The official opening of the Porritt Glade Lifestyle Village was held on Saturday, 18 July 2020. Photos and more information about the official opening can be viewed here.
Since then the Council has been building and selling units with the Right to Occupy to residents. The village has now been constructed and a completion ceremony was held on 23 July 2023.
Currently, there are four units available (albeit some of these are under an Application for Occupation Right Agreement - contingent on the incoming resident/s selling their property.

Council will keep a log of interested couples or individuals for any units that may become available in the future.

Directions to Drive to Porritt Glade
Drive to Kawerau from Whakatāne, Rotorua or Tauranga, and approach Kawerau using SH 34. From Whakatāne or Tauranga, drive straight across the intersection with traffic lights outside the mill, cross the bridge over the Tarawera River and immediately turn left onto River Rd. From Rotorua, turn off the Whakatāne road onto SH 34 for Kawerau and stay on SH34 until you have passed most of Kawerau and can see the bridge over the Tarawera River. Turn right at this intersection.
Follow River Rd for about 1 km past Tarawera High School and the Mountain View Rest Home. Turn left into Porritt Drive which is immediately on your left after Mountain View. Piripiri Crescent is the first left.
