Community Grant Scheme

The Community Grant Scheme is a Council fund to enhance the well-being of Kawerau people by supporting groups and/or services that improve the quality of life of local residents.

Applications for the Community Grant Scheme were open from Monday 26 June 2023 to Wednesday 2 August at 5.00pm. 

The Scheme is available to any non-profit group that provides a service which enhances the quality of life of Kawerau residents.

Funding Available

The Council may contribute up to $3,000 to any one applicant. If you need to apply for a grant over $3,000 you should consider applying through the Lottery Grants Board and/or BayTrust.

Applications for Funding 

Applicants will be required to complete a Community Grant Application Form which must be submitted prior to the closing day in order to be considered.

All applications will be treated as confidential by Council.

Applications for funding must:

  • Demonstrate that the request will fulfill a community need.
  • Provide evidence that the project is financially viable i.e. the project will proceed.
  • Provide a full budget breakdown for the project and provide an up to date balance sheet.

A Community Grants Accountability Record will be required at the completion of the project.
