Kawerau District Council wishes to continue to keep communicating with the community about the Three Waters Reform. 
The Three Waters Reform proposes that the water assets currently managed by Kawerau District Council and the 66 other councils throughout New Zealand will be owned and operated by four large entities.

More than 210 residents have provided feedback over a relatively short timeframe of 10 days.

Launched in July 2020 the government proposes changing the Three Waters service delivery arrangements by 1 July 2024.
