Kawerau District Council holds a license to operate as an AA Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency.

AA services are available Monday - Friday from 8.30am - 4pm at the District Office, located at 2 Ranfurly Court, Kawerau.

Kawerau District Council operates the Sir James Fletcher Kawerau Museum located in Jellicoe Court, Kawerau.

There are 40kms of sealed road in Kawerau - and one kilometre of unsealed road. All roads are resealed every 15 years.

The Council runs a weekly kerbside rubbish and recycling collection and a fortnightly green waste collection service in the District.

Horses, goats, cattle and sheep may be kept on vacant sections in Kawerau under certain circumstances. Birds and poultry are also permitted but because of the proximity of neighbours in urban areas, you may be limited on the number of chickens and poultry you can keep.

The Maurie Kjar Memorial Aquatic Centre is situated in the heart of the township, nearby the Kawerau i-SITE Visitor Information Centre, and staff can be contacted directly by phone on 07 323 6109.
