Overview

Every address that has kerbside recycling and waste collection has it done on the same day each week, on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday as described below. Recycling and general refuse is collected each week. In addition, every second week, the 240 litre greenwaste bin will be emptied in another trip by the truck.

For every address, the effect is that each week you can put out your recycling and general refuse bins on the given day, and every second week, you can also put out your greewaste bin on that day.

There are no waste collections on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. When Christmas Day and New Years Day fall on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, those two collections are moved to another day in the week, usually the preceding Saturday. This change is published in various ways prior to the Christmas and New Year period.

Recycling and Refuse Collection (Weekly)

For the purposes of kerbside collection of recyclables and general waste, Kawerau has been divided into three areas. Each of these three areas is collected on the same day each week. Solid waste and recyclables are collected each week, except along Fletcher Ave where recycling is collected weekly but there is no collection of general refuse.

In this map:

• Zone 1 areas are collected on Mondays.
• Zone 2 areas are collected on Tuesdays.
• Zone 3 is collected on Wednesdays.

GreenWaste Collection (Fortnightly)

For the purposes of kerbside greenwaste collection, Kawerau has been divided into six areas. Greenwaste is collected every second week, after the recyclables and general refuse have been collected. The usual days of collection are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Public Holidays, Christmas Day, New Year's Day

Collections take place even on public holidays, except for Christmas Day and New Year's Day, when they are transferred to another day in the week. This change is published in various ways prior to the Christmas and New Year period.

Greenwaste is collected on the same day as your kerbside waste and recycling, but every alternate week using this schedule of greenwaste collection dates.
