Media Release - More than $40,000 to distribute to Kawerau District

More than $40,000 to distribute to Kawerau District

The Creative NZ Communities Fund administered by Kawerau District Council has more than $40,000 in the coffers to distribute.
The fund has almost doubled from previous years, mainly due to the ongoing COVID-19 lockdowns that have made it difficult for groups to complete their projects funded as part of this scheme.
The Kawerau District Council Creative NZ Communities committee comprises Councillors and community representatives and is keen to ensure that this current funding round has maximum exposure.
This funding could make a significant difference to the Kawerau community and voluntary groups, organisations and clubs.

Individuals or groups can apply for funding through Creative New Zealand for projects that:
•    Have an arts or cultural focus
•    Take place within the Kawerau district
•    Benefit the local community
•    That will be completed within 12 months of funding being approved

Applications need to meet encourage:
•    Participation - creating opportunities for local communities to engage
•    Diversity - supporting the diverse artistic cultural traditions
•    Or encouraging youth to engage and participate.
Types of projects or activities that could be funded include exhibitions, productions, concerts, festivals, workshops and presentations that offer opportunities for community involvement in the arts.
Applications for the Creative NZ Communities grants must be received by 5pm on Friday, 29 October 2021.
