Kawerau District Council extends deadline for Community Grants 

KAWERAU District Council has extended the deadline for the annual Community Grants applications. 

There is some $20,000 available to support the work of volunteer organisations and groups in the district. 

Due to the recent COVID-19 lockdown the application process has been extended as Council acknowledges the difficulty groups may have had to obtain quotes and information and to meet formally.  

The application period has been extended unitl 5pm on Friday, September 24. Applications will be considered at a meeting on Tuesday, October 5.

In 2020, grants totalling almost $20,000 were awarded to 12 community groups and organisations. 

The 2020 grants recipients were:
o    Victim Support Eastern Bay of Plenty $1,500 
o    Parkinson’s New Zealand Charitable Trust $1,500
o    Pūtauaki Primary School $2,000
o    Kawerau Community Menzshed $1,300
o    Alzheimer’s Society Eastern Bay of Plenty $2,500
o    Friendship Club Kawerau $1,000
o    Pūtauaki Kindergarten $1,900
o    Ngā Ririki Learning Centre $3,000
o    Epilepsy Association of New Zealand $600
o    Seniors Forum Kawerau $1,500
o    Kawerau Blue Light Ventures $2,000
o    Kawerau Boxing Club $1,131
