Kawerau Library Re-Opening pushed back

DUE to construction delays, the new re-opening date of the Kawerau District Library is Saturday, 8 June.

The library was due to re-open on Tuesday, June 4 after closing for health and safety alterations, but construction delays mean the re-opening will now be on Saturday, June from 10am until 1pm.

The limited library services or pop-up library located downstairs in the Council District Office in Ranfurly Court will remain open next week from Tuesday, 4 June to Friday, 7 June from 10am until 5pm.

When the Kawerau District Library re-opens on Saturday, 8 June people will notice changes to the counter area and also to the APNK or Aotearoa People's Network Kaharoa computer service which will have new equipment.

In 2007, Kawerau District Library was the pilot launch of the APNK system in New Zealand.

The upgrade sees the APNK computer service moving to chrome boxes and chrome book computer devices. It will also mean a new self-service booking system. The number of devices available for use by the public will increase from four to six.

For people who have books and material on loan, all material due the week of the 4 to 7 June will be treated as due Monday, 10 June.

The Kawerau Library team can renew your books further by phoning 07 306 9041.

Members can use the online services to borrow e-books and other digital material. You can also use your Library Card to borrow from Edgecumbe, Whakatane and Rotorua Libraries.

Please be aware no computer or newspaper services will be available over this period.

The Kawerau Writer’s Group will continue to meet at Jive Cafe at 11.00am on Wednesday.

The Kawerau District Council apologises for the inconvenience to library users.
