Congratulations to Edwina O'Brien the new Kawerau to Work Pathways Manager

Industrial Symbiosis Kawerau’s (ISK’S) Workforce Development Chair Deanne Butler announced that Edwina O’Brien has been appointed Kawerau Pathways to Work (KPtW) Manager and will commence with the team in January next year.

“We are fortunate to have secured the services of Edwina who brings a wealth of experience to the position.”  Mrs Butler said.  “Edwina is a Kawerau resident and has worked in many of the sectors involved with the KPtW programme.”

KPtW is an ISK initiative funded through the Provincial Growth Fund. The objective of the programme Edwina O’Brien will lead is to work with Industry to identify opportunities to connect employers and potential employees  and develop a skilled workforce ready to meet the demands of the proposed Eastern Bay of Plenty developments.

“A strong focus in the new year will be to identify both the existing training programmes and the gaps in the offerings to ensure all needs are covered” Mrs Butler said.
“The unique factor about KPtW is that the programme is completely industry-led in Kawerau and able to provide insights into the type of work that might be coming up in the next few years. With the developments proposed to commence in 2020, we are striving to be as ready as possible to be able to have a work force in Kawerau and the Eastern Bay ready to fill the positions. This involves working with other agencies within the District to coordinate activities to gain the maximum benefit. ”

Edwina will start with KPtW on Monday, January 13 and can be contacted then via
