Borrowing Books

Do you charge for borrowing?

No. There are no charges for borrowing material from the Kawerau District Library, just an admin fee/cost of book if items aren't returned.

How many items can I borrow?

You can have up to 30 items on your card at any one time including a maximum of 10 DVDs. This includes the items you have not returned.

How long can I have them for?

Three weeks

What can I do if I want my books longer?

You can renew items once over the phone or online by logging in to My Account via the library catalogue. After that, you need to come in to the library with your card and the items you would like renewed. There is a maximum of two renewals per item.

Can I return my books to another library?

No, you need to return your books to our Library located in Jellicoe Court.

If I keep the books after the due date, do I get fined?

No, as of the 1st July 2022, there are no library fines. You will get charged an admin fee/cost of book if you do not return your books.

Reserving Books

If I find an item on the catalogue, but it is not available at the moment, what can I do?

We can reserve/hold the item for you, or you can reserve it yourself online in the catalogue.

Will it cost me anything?

No, its free to reserve items that belong to the Kawerau District Library.

How will I know when it is ready for me?

We will send you a notice. You will have one week to collect the item from the library.

E-Resources

Do you have a Library App?

No, the Kawerau Library app is currently unavailable. It was able to be downloaded on ios and Android device.  More information can be found on our Kawerau BC Mobile App page.

Do you have E-books and how do I download them?

Yes, we have e-books available from a range of e-book providers. You can choose to download directly from our catalogue or some customers prefer to download apps from our main two providers Wheelers and Overdrive. More information is available on our E-books and Audiobooks page.
