Complaints

The Council responds on average to approximately 1200 dog complaints annually. We cover issues such as roaming, wandering, noise, odour, welfare and menacing behavioural problems.

In all cases, the Council does not inform the animal owner of the source of the complaint. We approach the problem in an attempt to get the owner to resolve the nuisance willingly rather than through enforcement measures. However, in some cases proceedings need to be taken further.

Total confidentiality is guaranteed when contacting the Council and reporting a complaint.

For all your animal control enquiries or complaints, please contact Council on 07 306 9009. We are available 24 hours, 7 days per week.

Unfortunately, there is no local dog obedience club in the Kawerau District.
