Summercross Motocross National Series
  The National Championship Summercross is held at Awakaponga each year, where entrants compete for the Title of the New Zealand Dirt Bike Federation Champions, making it one of the most important meets in New Zealand. The actions starts on 30th December with racing for Juniors, Mini's, Senior Support, Veterans 35 years+ and Freestyle MX. 31st December features the National classes, Expert classes, Women's and veterans 40 yrs, Youth under 21 years and the Vintage and Classic feature races.

  Swim/Bike/Run 10am Children, 11am Adults.9AM kids

Whakatane Great Outdoors Monty's Revenge
  The Whakatane Great Outdoors Monty's Revenge Multisport event is a day of adventure on one of the most scenic courses in New Zealand taking in seascapes, cliffs, bush and river vistas. Monty's Revenge is an acheiveable 57km course that includes run, bike and kayak sections and is open to individuals or teams. A new Duathlon option is also available.

Whakatane Kiwi Week
  Kiwi Event Week kicks off with the launch of “Coins for Kiwi”, which will continue throughout the week. It’s easy to become a champion for the kiwi. Simply register your workplace, club, school or group for a coin collection during the week and your total will be announced on Radio 1XX during the live Kiwiathon on Saturday July 26 and Sunday August 1.

Bay Arts 2010
  Whakatane Society of Arts and Crafts hosts the area's longest running annual art exhibition, featuring work from members of teh Bay of Plenty's 10 Art Societies.

What Every Woman Wants
  An evening featuring a compere, clothes, nibbles, wine. and general fun for women

Whakatane Registered Master Builders House of the Year 2010
  Celebrate Registered Master Builders House of the Years 20th Anniversary. Open to the public, always a must if you want a sociable evening. Look out for this years Beacons Peoples Choice Award, catch this years Master Builders compete for the PlaceMakers Supreme Award.

Town to Sea
  Town to Sea is a fundraising event for Edgecumbe College held annually and includes community participation from all age groups i.e. to Walk, Run, Bike, Kayak from Edgecumbe College to Thornton beach Domain (appox 10km) to be held on 29th August 2010 this year. Start time 9.30am

Carlo Curley - Organ Extravaganza
  The world famous Carlo Curley, a consummate entertainer who has been dubbed ‘The Pavarotti of the Organ’. Carlo will play 45-rank two-manual and pedal Viscount ‘Prestige 60’ classical-style digital organ with appropriate amplification to recreate the grandeur of a pipe organ.

National Woodskills Festival
  Entry forms are now online at www.kaweraudc.co.nz for the National Woodskills competition to be held September 10-12 as part of the annual Woodfest. There are some new categories this year, including Wearable Wood and novice for newbies to the art of wood crafting. Overall there are 10 categories with more than $20,000 in prize money to be won. The public vote will be rather bizaare this year, so imagination is the key. Watch this space for more details over the next few months.

Life Education Trust 'Fight for Life Ed'
  Let's get ready to rumble... MOVE over, David Tua … the Eastern Bay’s boxing talent is ready to step into the ring. Local identities are volunteering to glove up and put their bodies on the line … all for a good cause.

Fiona Pears-Jazz Violin and Band
  New Zealand violinist and composer Fiona Pears is a passionate and animated performer with rare and natural charisma. Fiona is an electrifying and visual musician who thrills audiences wherever she plays. Her band is made up of some of the most talented musicians in New Zealand; Greg Donaldson on drums, Pete Fleming on bass, Mike Ferrar on guitar and UK pianist and Musical Director, Ian Tilley.

Bay of Plenty Energy Toi's Challenge
  The popular Bay of Plenty Electricity's 'Toi's Challenge' running and walking event takes place in Whakatane during November each year. The event takes in one of world's most scenic multi terranin routes - Nga Tapuwae o Toi (in the footsteps of Toi). The 18.5km kilometre course captures the essence of the Whakatane district and includes sea cliffs, Ohope Beach and native bush.

Whakatane Truck and Bike Show
  A Truck Show featuring some of the big rigs. Come have a look at the trucks and help raise funds for Child Cancer. A drive through town will take place at 11AM. Gold coin donation, raffles and a sausage sizzle. The kids will love it! Harley's also on show.

Whakatane Truck And Bike Show
  Support child cancer in the Eastern Bay of Plenty and see some of New Zealand's gruntiest machines while you are at it. A wonderful day the whole famiily will enjoy. Truck rides, entertainment and food all on offer. Stay tuned to whakatane.com for more details.

  Street Fiesta, street entertainers, kidszone, Headline act: TBC Entertainment from 2-10pm.

Classic Matata Festival
  Welcome the Steam Train to Matata. The main road will be closed and the street will come alive: Craft and food stalls, Classic planes, helicopter rides,vintage and classic cars. 12 noon to 2:30pm

Tarawera Ultramarathon Run and Relays
  The 3rd annual Tarawera Ultramarathon is a 110 or 85 or 60 kilometre trail ultramarathon run from Rotorua to Kawerau.
