Christmas Celebrations

Prideaux Park Kawerau - Friday 18 & Saturday 19 December 2009

Kawerau's Christmas in the Park is turning into somewhat of an icon in the Eastern Bay of Plenty with up to 10,000 people packing into Prideaux Park for the celebration.

Yet again, Kawerau can announce a star studded line up for the annual Christmas in the Park. The day will start with the parade and lead into an afternoon loaded with local talent, which culminates in the big night bonanza. Mr Lotto, Russell Harrison will be the master of ceremonies whilst R & B songstress, Taisha, will be one of the star attractions. This year promises to be another massive event and the biggest Christmas in the Park the Eastern Bay of Plenty has to offer!

This year’s Christmas festivities will start off with a revamped Carols in the Park on Friday 18 December. Organised by the Churches of Kawerau, you are invited to bring your family to Prideaux Park around 5.30pm for a picnic and stay on to enjoy the evening. The churches will present a series of Christmas carols and skits culminating in the grand finale of a combined choir.

The Santa Parade leaves the Recreation Centre car park at 11 am on Saturday 19 December for two circuits of the town.  Last year Santa was escorted by over 25 floats and we are hoping that this year will be even better.

Christmas in the Park kicks off at 1 pm, Saturday 19th with the afternoon’s line up of our very own talented musicians. The evening’s show starting at 7 pm will showcase some of New Zealand’s best entertainmenters and the evening will come to a close with a spectacular fireworks display.
