Christmas In The Park

Kawerau's Christmas in the Park is turning into somewhat of an icon in the Eastern Bay of Plenty.   In 2007 year a stunning 9,500 people packed into Prideaux Park for the celebration.  

The Santa Parade started the year's festivities at 11 am with a procession through town.   Kicking off at 1 pm, the afternoon's entertainment showcased a huge line up of local talent from Hip Hip through to Rock.

 
Temuera Morrison took us through the evening's session -  opening with Kawerau's own 2006 Smokefree Pacifica Beats contest winners 'The Jick'.

Joining the evening's lineup was entertainer Chris Powley.   Well known for his rich baritone voice, Chris also had an amazing talent for mimic and comedy.

Che Fu, one of New Zealand's most successful male vocalists took star billing of the night with his band The Krates.   Che Fu's unique blend of Hip Hop beats with reggae influences and his soulful vocals make his sound world class.

There were also stalls and sideshows to keep the kids happy and the evening ended in a spectacular fireworks display around 9.45 pm.
