Planning is now underway for 2008. With the National Woodskills Championship as its cornerstone, Woodfest is expanding to encompass a wide variet y of elements associated with the wood industry and t he bush at large. Click Background for further information on the history of the festival.
In 2007 the Festival attracted over 10,000 visitors from around the country and in excess of 140 entries competed in the Championship for a total prize pool of over $28,000. To view photographs on the winning entry in each category click 2007 Category Winners.

A limited number of places are still available to organisations and businesses wishing to occupy a site on Prideaux Park – the home of ‘Trades, Technology and Exhibitions’. Entries for the Chainsaw Carving Competition are now open. Top prize this year is $1,000 with $700 for second and $500 for third. Theme for the carvings is Kiwiana.
The festival kicks off on Thursday 11 Sept with the Gala Opening Night . This Gala event will be the first chance for the public to view the exhibition and reserve pieces for purchase. Joe Kemp our Key Exhibitor will also be available to discuss his collection.
