News And Events
Upstairs In The Chill Zone
New for the Chill Zone is a games computer for the teens to play with. But because of vandalism over the holidays, we've had to close this area until we get new cameras sorted. We're also developing some new collections behind the scenes. Readers, keep an eye out on the white table upstairs. The Aotearoa NZ People's Network project also means more computers 4 U to use, so check the Projects page out...
Emma's Say

What Can Teens Borrow?

What Can Teens Do?
You can read and borrow books, relax upstairs in the Chill Zone, play a game on the Play station, or use your Library card to access the computers in the Technology Zone.
Summer Reading
Last year Emma trialed a summer reading programme called ReadUp! for teens (12-18 years) which promotes books and reading with crafts, activities and a fun finale. Registrations for next Summer's programme will begin at the start of December and your school age teenager needs to come to the Library with a library card where they will receive their starter pack. The emphasis of this programme is on reading with rewards for the amount of reading done. Local retailers donated some awesome prizes for our last programme and we thank Coin Save, Dallisons Clothing And Shoes, Eduquip Ltd., Kawerau Pharmacy, Kawerau Video Source, MWG Mitre 10, New World Kawerau, Smiths City Kawerau and Video Ezy Kawerau and Whakatane for supporting this new initiative.
Homework Help
If you need help or information with your homework, projects or assignments you can come into the Library and ask Emma, or you can email her at library@kaweraudc.govt.nz, but remember to include your library card number in the email. You can also visit the www.anyquestions.co.nz website, which has librarians online to help you find resources and answer your questions.
