Dive Into Books - The Summer Reading Challenge
We had a fantastic summer with the Dive Into Books Reading Challenge and say well done to all our competition winners and teens who completed their challenge booklets. Our favourite teen activity was playing Survivor - Library style. Four teams were whittled down to one final winner after a series of challenges ranging from puzzle hunts to eating dry weetbix. Tommy Kapai Wilson was also a great session too. Once again, thanks for participating and making it a great challenge. Also special thanks to Ross and Janet Miller who donated our book prizes.

Upstairs In The Chill Zone
New for the Chill Zone is a games computer for the teens to play with. But because of vandalism we've had to close this area until we get new cameras and furniture sorted. We're also developing some new collections behind the scenes. Readers, keep an eye out on the white table upstairs. The Aotearoa NZ People's Network project also means more computers 4 U to use, so check the Projects page out...

What Can Teens Borrow?
We have two specific collections for teenagers which are Young Adult Fiction and Graffix. You are also able to access all the other collections in the Library ranging from non-fiction, genre fiction and DVDs/Videos.
What Can Teens Do?
You can read and borrow books, relax upstairs in the Chill Zone, play a game on the Play station, or use your Library card to access the computers in the Technology Zone.
The Summer Reading Challenge
A summer reading programme for teens (10 plus) is available which promotes books and reading with crafts, activities and rewards. Registrations for this Summer's programme begin mid December and you need to come to the library with a library card where you receive your starter pack and challenge booklet. The theme for last year's programme was Dive Into Reading.
