More details will be released closer to school finishing.

School Holiday Fun

The Library runs free activity sessions at the Library in the holiday periods through the school year, including the summer vacation. Sessions are held in the Children's area of the Library and run approximately for 30 minutes to an hour. An adult caregiver must accompany the child/ren. For the summer vacation, the Library runs a summer reading programme (see next section below). Kawerau District Council also runs a separate School Holiday Programme over this time (contact Blue Light for further information).

The Summer Reading Challenge

The summer reading challenge is a new programme for children aged 5-10 years which promotes books and reading with crafts, activities and rewards. Registrations for this Summer's programme begin 14 December and your school age child needs to come to the library with a library card where they will receive their starter pack and challenge booklet. The theme for this programme is Dive Into Reading.
