Maori Reference Collection Update

Last year, artist Jason Hellens painted our new bookcase that will house the Maori Reference collection. His vision for the design was based on bird shapes in combination with the idea of a "phoenix" to symbolise the renovation of the Library. Staff are currently in the process of moving the Maori Reference material to its new home while at the same time doing a stocktake and analysis of the material as well as purchasing new material to be on permanent display.

What Can You Borrow?

Reference Collections

These collections remain at the Library so everyone has the opportunity to share. This material is not able to be borrowed.

Adult Services

Ask A Librarian

This is your reference and query service. Librarians are professionally trained and have skills to help you find the best source of information, whether it's online or in print. Kawerau Library staff can be contacted for reference queries by visiting the Library or phoning (07) 306 9041. We will also do e-mail queries for library members (library@kaweraudc.govt.nz). These need your library membership number attached to be actioned.

Staff Picks

Each month Kawerau Library staff choose their favourite book that they recommend to read. Look at the Staff Picks page to see their latest recommendation or look on the noticeboard in the entry of the Library.

Display Area/Public Notices

Our Public Noticeboard is now completed and public notices can be given to Library staff to display. The front display window at the Library is available to non-commercial community groups and organisations to promote their group or activity. Bookings need to be organised with the District Librarian.

Internet/Database Access

In the Technology Zone of the Library, there are a number of technology related services library members can access, ranging from a photocopier to electronic databases to free internet access. For more information, check out the Catalogue & Databases and Technology pages of our website.
