BMX WORLD CHAMPION

World Champion Sarah Walker, winner of the UCI BMX World Championshp title in the Cruiser Class 2007.   Born 10 July 1988, Sarah Walker grew up in Kawerau attending Kawerau South Primary School, Kawerau Putauaki Full Primary School and Trident High School.  Sarah is a high achiever both academically and in the sports arena.  She has achieved well in swimming, netball, cross country, athletics, orienteering, mountain biking, hockey and many other sports as her parents will testify to.   Sarah commenced BMX racng in January 1999 and now spends the majority of her time overseas training and racing.  Sarah took out the Sport BOP Sports Woman of the year then scoped the pool when she won the supreme award of the overall winner of the ASB 2007 Bay of Plenty Sports Awards a magnificent achievement to top off a very exciting year.   She will be continually racing from January - May, during the months of June and July she will soley concentrate on her training for the Olympics.

Kawerau BMX star to race this  Queens Birthdayweekend

Kawerau BMX star Sarah Walker will compete in an important pre-Olympic event in China this weekend.  The world number one will ride in the World Championships in Taiyuan.  The 19 yr old has been on the circuit preparing over the last couple of days ahead of racing tomorrow June 1st.  Her Mum Sue is supporting Sarah as she defends her World Title.
