Objectives of the Seniors Forum
- Advocate and act as a reference or advisory group in the development of relevant Council policies and plans ensuring that the requirements of our senior and disabled residents are taken into account.
- Communicate to senior and disabled citizens in the District details of resources and developments of benefit to this group.
- Research and identify issues of concern to aged and disabled people and represent or advocate on their behalf. As with our recent submissions to Council’s Long Term Plan, with agreement that several of our suggestions are to be implemented.
- To help us help you, please let us know of your concerns within the town that you believe are not age or disability friendly. For example, our on-going survey of footpaths and paving will benefit from any advice you can give us about areas that you feel need attention.
