Gravity 6 Hr Adventure Race
Over 200 competitors took part in the Kawerau 6 Hr Adventure race Saturday 13 August 2011. The event included 65 teams that completed activities such as trekking, mountain biking, kayaking, navigation, horse riding, archery and other events. This race was organised by Gravity Sports and is in its second year, the course and activities are kept a mystery until the night before the race. Teams had to complete the race within 6 hours or face time penalties where they would lose valuable hard earned points. Teams were also able to gain bonus points with the mystery activities such as horsing around where competitors had to lead teammates around a course on a horse whilst more points could be picked up on the archery activity. Teams are made up of mixed, open male, open female, secondary schools male/female yr 9 & 10, yr 11-13 in all categories .
